The winery

The Veritas vinyards are located in the Fruska Gora region of Serbia, near the town of Sremski Karlovci. This region has become recognised as home to some of the finest vineyards in the Balkans, and the basis for development of Serbian wine industry.

Set in the midst of this unique landscape is the Veritas Winery (Vinarija Veritas). In March 2012, following five years of significant investment and construction, the Veritas Winery was finally opened.

This million dollar development project saw the creation of a new winemaking facility, created to handle small, premium parcels, with state-of-the-art equipment as well as a laboratory and wine tasting areas.
One more period

history

Winemaking in Serbia started during the reign of Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius Probus around 280AD. Over the years, Fruska Gora and Sremski Karlovci became the oldest and most important winemaking regions of the Balkans. Traditionally produced local wine gained fame and was sold throughout Europe. Even today one can find a number of wineries still using traditional methods.

In the 2000s, Serbian winemaking started to take a sharp and decisive turn towards quality and distinction. Numerous small and medium privately-owned wineries entered the market, often run as family businesses, and with very high regard for standards of quality and taste. Today there are nearly 70,000 hectares of vineyards in Serbia, producing about 425,000 tons of grapes annually, the majority of which are produced in local wineries.
